St. Clair Men Run to National Cross-Country Bronze in Calgary

Calgary, AB – The St. Clair College Men's Cross-Country team collected a podium finish for the third straight season with a bronze medal performance Saturday afternoon at the CCAA National Championships hosted by St. Mary's University in Calgary, AB.  The Saints' Men's team won national gold in 2018 and silver in 2019. 

Tyler Jones (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) led St. Clair with a 7th place finish in a time of 25:38 over the 8km loop in a field 89 runners earning himself a career 4th All-Canadian Award.  Saints rookie runner Jacob Fitzpatrick (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) was close behind in 8th place finishing in a time of 25:43 with Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 10th place (26:07) allowing both to join Jones on the All-Canadian team. 

Matt Lafleur (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) crossed the line in 36th place with a time of 28:36 to round out St. Clair's scoring runners against 13 other school teams at the event.  Other finishers for the Saints were John Riley (St. Catharines) in 42nd place (28:57) and Mitch Haggart (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 68th position (30:52).

The St. Clair Women improved on their 2019 team performance placing 8th out of 14 teams at the event.  The Saints were led by Hailey Jones (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) who had her best collegiate performance placing 36th in a time of 26:05 in a field of 97 runners around the 6km course.  Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) was 42nd with a time of 26:15 followed by Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) who was 46th in a time of 26:24. 

Lily Pattinson (Windsor, ON/Riverside) completed her rookie season in 62nd position (26:59) as the final scoring runner for St. Clair.  Other finishers for the Saints were Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) who finished 70th (27:13) and Samantha Marchenkowsky (Windsor, ON/Massey) was 89th (30:55).
