Women's Volleyball Advance to OCAA Championship

(Windsor, ON)- The St. Clair women's volleyball team hosted an OCAA Playoff qualifier on Saturday afternoon and came away with a solid 3-0 win over the Algonquin Wolves (Ottawa) in front of a great crowd at the Sportsplex.

Set scores for St. Clair 25-15, 25-17, and 25-21.

Algonquin ended the season in 5th place in the East Division with a record of 11-7 and ranked 10th in Ontario.

Rookie middle Geneva Huisman (Amherstburg; Marantha Christian) led the way offensively with 10 kills on 14 attempts and 2 stuff blocks. Second year outside hitter Kiana Huggins (London; Saunders) had a big game as well with 11 kills on 23 attempts and 11 digs. Second year libero Mikayla Stocks (LaSalle; Sandwich Secondary) had a great defensive game with 12 digs.

With the win St. Clair advances to the OCAA Championship being hosted by Sheridan College in Oakville from February 23-25. The Saints will face the Seneca Sting in their quarterfinal match on Thursday afternoon. St. Clair is currently ranked 4th in the OCAA while the Sting are ranked 5th. Seneca ended the regular season with a record of 14-4 and in 2nd place in the East Division.

The winner will advance to the semifinal on Friday. All matches will be live streamed on OCAA Live.
