Men’s Basketball Squeeze by Humber

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team held on for a hard fought 86-81 win over Humber College (Etobicoke) Friday night at the SportsPlex keeping their OCAA West Division record intact at a perfect 5-0.

The Saints moved ahead 18-10 after the opening quarter as the teams set their defensive presence early.  Humber shot a blistering 61% in the second quarter to take a 39-36 lead into the halftime locker room.  But St. Clair answered in the third for a 62-56 advantage heading to the final frame.  The Saints cushioned themselves to a 12-point lead with four minutes to play and despite Humber making a few late charges it did not change the outcome.

Humber outrebounded the home team 39-35 and forced more turnovers to capitalize on those mistakes which led to an advantage in points around the basket.  The only deciding statistic in favour of St. Clair was in 3-point shooting where they made 13 long balls to Humber's 6.

Most of the damage was done by a pair of Saints with Chad Vincent-Simon (Scarborough, ON) netting a game high 25 points with five triples but pulled down 14 rebounds in the double-double performance.  Andrew Loyuk (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) was the other standout for St. Clair who scored 24 points which included six triples while adding 7 assists.  Jadon Tillman (Warren, MI) had 11 points with Galdo Tutu (Windsor, ON) also reaching double figures with 10 points for the Saints.

The St. Clair Men host Sheridan College (Brampton, ON) on Saturday at 4:00pm to close out the weekend homestand.
