St. Clair Fratmen Cap Perfect Regular Season with Home Win over Hamilton

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair Fratmen (8-0) finished off an undefeated Ontario Football Conference regular season with a 49-14 victory over the Hamilton Hurricanes (4-4) Saturday night at Acumen Stadium.

On the opening series the Fratmen went 72 yards in 5 plays which included a superb over the shoulder diving catch by Dante Lewis (Windsor, ON) that was good for 33 yards.  St. Clair running back Jacob Savoni (Amherstburg, ON) capped the drive with a 1-yard rush and the home team was up 7-0 after a Jake Holloway (Franklin, Tennessee) convert.  Hamilton then conceded a safety which was followed by a 50-yard scoring strike from Fratmen quarterback Michael Beale (LaSalle, ON) to Cody Holmes (Windsor, ON).  The same pattern repeated with a Hamilton safety and another hook-up between Beale and Holmes for 45 yards which allowed St. Clair to take a commanding 25-0 advantage.  Hamilton came back late in the frame with their best offensive series and on the last play of the quarter put a passing play together that notched their first major with a subsequent convert.

St. Clair kept the pedal down in the second quarter that saw them collect two more safeties and a Holloway 41-yard field goal to go a with passing touchdown from Beale to Lewis (34-yards) along with a wonderful 13-yard rushing major from Savoni.

By the halftime intermission the Fratmen enjoyed a 46-7 lead but were able to add another Holloway field goal of 21 yards in the third quarter.  An errant pass later in the frame by St. Clair's back-up quarterback was returned 51-yards for a touchdown but that completed the scoring as the teams played scoreless down the stretch.

Savoni finished with 130 yards on 16 carries including his 2 touchdowns.  Beale had 3 touchdowns on 12 of 19 passing for 267 yards which all came in the first half.  Holmes was the leading receiver for St. Clair with 105 yards on 4 catches to go with his 2 scores.  Jared Hayes-Williams (Windsor, ON) was also deft hauling in 6 receptions for a total of 95 yards. Lewis needed just two catches for a touchdown and 67 yards.

Linebackers Nick Brajkovic (Windsor, ON) and Braeden MacDougall (Windsor, ON) each had an interception in the game to help St. Clair defensively.  Connor Sykes (Belle River, ON) created pressure on the visitors resulting in a pair of quarterback sacks.

Holloway converted all five Framen touchdowns while adding a pair of field goals in the win but was a contributor defensively in pass coverage.

St. Clair now looks to the playoffs and will host the 4th place Quinte Skyhawks (Belleville, ON) on Saturday, Nov. 13th at 7:00pm in the OFC semi-final round.  Quinte was 2-6 in the regular season but suffered losses to the Fratmen of 68-6 on Sep. 26th in Belleville and 60-13 in Windsor Oct. 9th.

St. Clair will now be enforcing a double vaccination standard to all spectators moving forward beginning with Saturday's game against Quinte.  Fans are asked to show up early and have their vaccination proof available for screening upon entry to the SportsPark.
