Saints Win Big with OCAA Baseball Awards

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team were well represented amongst the OCAA Baseball Awards winners that were announced on Wednesday with eight members of the program being decorated.

Bench boss Roberto Duncan achieved his first Coach of the Year award for the Saints after a 16-2 campaign and a first-place finish in the standings while first year outfielder/pitcher Tyler Brown-Amlin (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) won the other major recognition for St. Clair who was named the OCAA Rookie of the Year. 

Brown-Amlin was joined by second baseman Carter Reh (Harrow, ON/Kingsville) and outfielder Mitch McCosh (Belle River, ON/Belle River) as members of the OCAA First-Team All-Star group.  Catcher Henry Real (Panama City, Panama), outfielder Hunter Appleyard (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova), pitcher Cody Moore (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) and first baseman Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) filled up the Second-Team All-Star selections for the Saints.  Brown-Amlin and McCosh were both chosen as members of the OCAA All-Rookie team while Real took home the batting title for St. Clair. 

Brown-Amlin had a tremendous rookie season contributing a 3-0 pitching record including a pair of complete games with a 2.58 ERA and struck out nearly nine batters per nine innings of work to go with a .79 WHIP.  He was also a threat at the plate batting .353 which stood 12th overall in the OCAA as he split time between right field and designated hitter when not on the mound.  McCosh batted .442 with 11 RBI with Reh scoring 22 times after holding an average of .415 and both reached base more than half the time they stepped into the box. 

Real topped the OCAA with a lofty .578 average while driving in 19 RBI and slugging at a .622%.  Appleyard batted .319 and swiped 4 bases on his way scoring 15 times with Robinson finishing second in homeruns (5) with 12 RBI and a .257 average while playing a sure handed first base with no errors on the season.  Moore collected the second most wins in the OCAA with a perfect 4-0 record including two complete games and led the league with a sterling 0.91 ERA and .74 WHIP.
