Baseball Takes National Silver Medal

Etobicoke, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team lost 7-3 to host Humber College at the National College Baseball Championship in Etobicoke Saturday afternoon and took home the Silver Medal.

St. Clair fell behind 4-0 in the 1st inning and had to work the remainder of the game to overcome the deficit. But with a lead-off home run by Garik Godard (Belle River, ON/Belle River District) in the 2nd inning and another run in the 4th St. Clair was able to make it interesting. Humber put together 3 runs in the 6th for a 7-2 advantage moving to the last inning where the Saints scored a run and had two more on base before the final out was retired.

Saints starter Miguel Cienfuegos (Laval, QC) was tagged with the loss giving up 4 runs on 9 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts over 4 innings. Godard was named St. Clair's Player of the Game with a pair of hits and 2 RBI's in addition to being named to the Championship All-Star team. Catcher Matt Brooks (St. Thomas, ON) and Cienfuegos also represented St. Clair on the Championship All-Star team.
