St. Clair Cross Country Fight Through Heat in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country team fought through warm conditions in London on Saturday turning in some solid finishes at the Fanshawe College Invitational Meet hosted at the Fanshawe Conservation Area.  The Saints' Women were third in the team competition and the St. Clair Men were the sixth best squad in the competition.

In her first race of the season Victoria Horrobin (Wallaceburg) led the St. Clair Women achieving an 8th place finish and completed the 6km course in a time of 26:42 that saw 49 racers.  Rookie Camryn Crawford (Kemptville, ON) finished 10th in a time of 27:23 with 3rd year runner Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) coming in 15th position in 28:27.  Justine Abbott (Wyoming, ON) was 22nd in a time of 29:08 while Jillian Stratichuk (Belle River, ON/St. Anne) was 25th crossing in 29:47.  Kendra Bell (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was 35th in 30:39 while Victoria Skoyles (Mount Elgin, ON) also saw her first action of the year for the Saints with a 40th place result in a time of 32:50.

In the Men's race rookie Wesley Hearn (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) was the first St. Clair entry across the line in 29 minutes flat which was good for 16th place amongst 72 competitors in the 8km race.  Michael Horrobin (Wallaceburg, ON) was 21st in 29:24 with Cameron Finch (Forest, ON) and Nicholas Horrobin (Wallaceburg, ON) finishing within seconds of each other at 30:17 (28th place) and 30:19 (29th place) respectively.    Russell Niedre (Ottawa, ON) was 38th in 31:05 and Noah Nicoletti (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) rounded out the St. Clair team in 40th position clocking at 31:12. 

The St. Clair Cross Country team will be in action next at the Centennial College Meet in Scarborough on Oct. 14th which will be their final event before the provincial championships on Oct. 28th in Kitchener.
