St. Clair Cross Country Team Off and Running in King City

King City, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country team started their 2022 season Friday afternoon at the Seneca College Invitational in King City, ON.  The Men's team placed 2nd out of ten Ontario Colleges and the Women's team was 4th out of six schools. 

The Saints were led on the Men's side by 5th year runner Tyler Jones (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) who bested the field of 52 runners and outpaced his nearest competitor by 23 seconds covering the 8km course in a time of 27:13.  Fellow 5th year man Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was 5th place (28:18) and 2nd year runner Matt Lafleur (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) was close behind in 7th place (28:54).  Other finishers for St. Clair were rookie Michael Horrobin (Wallaceburg, ON) who was 41st (35:39) and 2nd year runner Mitch Haggart (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 46th position (36:55).

The women's field featured 41 competitors and the St. Clair team was led by 3rd year runner Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) who finished in 8th place in a time of 27:31 over the 6km course.  Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) crossed in 12th place with a time of 28:45 while Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) was 21st (30:12).  Victoria Skoyles (28th Place, 32:01), Narjis Sharifi (36th Place, 33:38) and Montana Wilkins (39th Place, 35:54) were the other competitors for the Saints.  

The St. Clair Cross Country team will be running next Oct. 1st when they travel to the Fanshawe College Invitational in London.
