Cross Country Race to Gold and Silver in Scarborough

Scarborough, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country teams had great results Saturday in Scarborough finishing with a Men's team gold and a Women's team silver at the Centennial College Invitational hosted at their Ashtonbee Campus. 

The Men's team was led by Tyler Jones (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) who took an individual silver medal in a time of 26:57 over the soggy 8km course in a field of 58 runners.  The Saints flooded the top pack with Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 4th place (27:19), Jacob Fitzpatrick (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) in 5th place (27:44) and Matt Lafleur (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 6th place (28:39). Other finishers for St. Clair were John Riley (St. Catharines) who placed 13th (30:16) and Mitch Haggart (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 40th position (34:46). 

The women's field had 43 runners and the St. Clair team was led by Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) who finished in 7th place with a time of 26:42 over the 6km course.  Lily Pattinson (Windsor, ON/Riverside) finished in 11th position in a time of 27:11 with teammates Hailey Jones (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) in 14th place (27:04) and Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) in 20th place (27:56).  Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) crossed in 27th place with a time of 28:38 while Samantha Marchenkowsky (Windsor, ON/Massey) rounded out St. Clair's entries in 41st place in a time of 33:25. 

The St. Clair Cross Country will now set their sights on the OCAA Provincial Championship being hosted Oct. 30th by Humber College at Albion Hills Conservation Area in Caledon.
