Saints Cross Country Teams Earn Silver in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country program competed in their first event of the season at the 24th Annual Fanshawe College Cross Country Invitational collecting a pair of team Silver medals Saturday afternoon at London's Fanshawe Conservation Area.  The Men's team was 2nd place out of nine Ontario Colleges with the Women's team also taking 2nd place out of five teams.  

The Saints' Men's team was led by rookie runner Jacob Fitzpatrick (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) who placed 3rd in a time of 26:46 over the 8km course in a field of 58 runners.  He was followed closely by teammates Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 4th place (27:08) and Matt Lafleur (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 5th place (27:48).  Other finishers for St. Clair were John Riley (St. Catharines) who placed 12th (30:08) and Mitch Haggart (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) in 31st position (33:28). 

The women's field featured 40 competitors and the St. Clair team was led by 2nd year runner Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) who finished in 7th place in a time of 26:15 over the 6km course.  Rookie Lily Pattinson (Windsor, ON/Riverside) finished in 11th position in a time of 26:41 with teammate Melody Knight (Tecumseh, ON/Tecumseh Vista) right behind in 12th place (26:51).  2nd year runner Hailey Jones (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) finished in 17th place (27:04) and Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) crossed in 29th with a time of 28:36.  

The St. Clair Cross Country team will be in action next when they travel to the Centennial College Invitational in Scarborough Oct. 16th
