Cross Country Displays Good Showing in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country team competed in their third and final tune-up meet before the Provincials at the 23rd Annual Fanshawe College Cross Country Invitational putting on a good show Saturday afternoon at London's Fanshawe Conservation Area.  The Men's team was 2nd Place out of 11 Ontario Colleges with the Women's team taking 3rd Place out of 6 teams.  

St. Clair's Carter Free (Napanee, ON) was dominant once again winning the Men's race 1 minute and 7 seconds ahead of his nearest rival in a blistering time of 24:29 through the 8km course.  Tyler Jones (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich) finished in 5th Place in a time of 26:02 followed by Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 7th place in a time of 26:17.  Tyler Tofflemire (21st Place, 28:51) was the only other Saints entry in the field of 77 runners.

The St. Clair Women's team had their best performance of the season led by Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) who finished in 9th Place in a time of 25:20 over the 6km course.  Trinity Davis (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) had a breakout run finishing in 11th Place with a time of 25:29 followed by Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) who crossed in 14th Place with a time of 25:40.  Beth Horrobin (20th Place, 26:20), Hailey Jones (23rd Place, 26:27) and Jessica Hodgkin (125th Place, 26:49) were the other finishers for the Lady Saints in a field of 51 runners. 

The St. Clair Cross Country team will be in action next when they play host to the OCAA Provincial Championships Oct. 26th at Malden Park.
