Cross Country Takes on Universities in London

London, ON – The St. Clair College Cross Country team competed in the Bill Salter Western International Invitational Saturday held at Thames Valley Golf Course in London matching themselves against 13 Canadian Universities, a few Ontario Colleges as well as an American College.  

The St. Clair rookie runner Carter Free (Napanee, ON) continued to impress finishing in 5th Place with a time of 25:45 over the 8km course in hot conditions.  He was followed by Tyler Jones (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich) who finished in 35th Place in a time of 27:21 followed by Rick Nepomuceno (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) in 59th place in a time of 28:04.  Other finishers for the Saints Men were Thador Tekhli (123rd Place, 30:03), Tyler Tofflemire (147th Place, 31:25) and Justin Folkeringa (156th Place, 32:25) in a field of 163 runners.  The Saints Men's team finished 10th out of 16 teams entered.  

The St. Clair Women's team finished 13th out of 15 teams entered and were led again by rookie runner Mya Palumbo (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) who finished in 85th Place in a time of 26:48 over the 6km course.  Natasha Atherton (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was next for St. Clair crossing in 100th Place with a time of 27:42 followed by Beth Horrobin (116th Place, 28:45).  Jessica Hodgkin (120th Place, 29:00), Hailey Jones (125th Place, 30:16) and Trinity Davis (129th Place, 31:31) were the other finishers for the Lady Saints in a field of 133 runners. 

The St. Clair Cross Country program will next enter the Fanshawe College Invitational being held at the Fanshawe Conservation Area in London Oct. 5th. 

St. Clair will play host to the OCAA Provincial Championships Oct. 26th at Malden Park.
