
Women's Volleyball Punch Ticket to Championship
(Windsor, ON) The St. Clair Women's volleyball team has qualified for the OCAA Championship. The Saints (2nd West Division) handily defeated the La Cite Coyotes (3rd East Division) 3-0 on Saturday night at the Sportsplex in playoff action to earn their way to the Final Four.
Set scores for the Saints were 25-11, 25-16 and 25-16.
St. Clair was led offensively by third year outside hitter Haleigh Kearns (Prince George, BC; DP Todd Secondary) with 9 kills including a .533 kill percentage, 2 service aces and 1 stuff block. Fourth year libero Mikayla Stocks (LaSalle; Sandwich Secondary) had a great defensive game with 16 digs.
With the win the Saints will now take part in the OCAA Championship being hosted by Humber College on Friday and Saturday. The winner will advance to the CCAA Nationals at Durham College.
St. Clair will take on the Fanshawe Falcons in the semi-final on Friday (Time TBA). The Falcons finished 4th in the West Division with a record of 9-9 and are ranked 8th in Ontario. The Saints were second in the West Division with a record of 16-2 and are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 11th in Canada.
