Bio

Matthew Paonessa returns to St.Clair College to be an assistant coach with the women’s soccer team. Matthew is an alumnus of St.Clair College. He graduated in 2017, with an advanced diploma in Sport & Recreation Management. He then moved to Ireland in the fall of 2017 for his Bachelors Degree in Sport management & Coaching at the Institute of Technology Carlow. During his time at IT Carlow he played soccer for the university. Matthew also fell in love with performance analysis which led him to enroll in the Masters Program in September 2020 at the University of Worcester in England for performance analysis.

He is currently finishing up his National C license which he then will pursue his B, A and then Pro. He is also certified under Ontario Soccer with a goalkeeper training diploma. He currently assists with Windsor TFC training the goalies for the League 1 men’s, U-21 men’s reserve, and U-18 women’s squads.

Matthew has over 20 years of playing experience from house league to travel soccer with the Caboto club and Ciociaro club including some call ups to play for the Windsor Stars (now known as Windsor TFC). Matthew was a part of the St. Clair men’s team from 2015-2017 where he helped the men’s team win a silver medal in the OCAA Indoor soccer championship. In that same year he received the coaches award.
