Barrie, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team travelled to Barrie this past weekend and came away with a pair of exhibition tune-up wins. The Saints began with a 60-43 victory over host Georgian College Friday night and then dispatched Durham College (Oshawa) by a score of 68-40 Saturday afternoon.
St. Clair was up 17-16 over Georgian Friday after the first quarter but held the home team to just five points for a 30-21 advantage by halftime. The Saints outscored 30-22 in the second half to secure the win. Kaelyn Batten (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Shae-lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each scored 13 points to lead the Saints offensively.
In the continuation of the Sledgehammer Series on Saturday St. Clair took a 37-21 lead by halftime over Durham after outscoring them 20-7 in the second quarter. It was more of the same following the intermission as the Saints won the second half 31-19 and held Durham to just four points in the fourth quarter. A balanced St. Clair scoring attack saw four players reach double figures including 11 points from Batten, Peri Colthurst (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) and Quinn MacIsaac (Windsor, ON/FJ Brennan) with Murphy chipping in with 10 points.
The Saints resume their OCAA West Division schedule with a weekend homestand at the SportsPlex against Sheridan College (Brampton) on Saturday and Humber Polytechnic (Etobicoke) on Sunday.
