Women’s Basketball Undone at Humber

Etobicoke, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team lost 72-55 to Humber Polytechnic in Etobicoke Saturday afternoon which drops their record to 3-5 in the OCAA's West Division.  Humber is the 2nd ranked team in the OCAA with an 8-1 record and is rated #11 in the country. 

Humber went ahead 23-11 after the opening quarter and St. Clair fell further behind by halftime facing a 42-23 deficit.  The Saints made some inroads in the third with their highest quarter output (18) of the contest but were still chasing a 63-41 difference heading to the final frame.  St. Clair outscored the home team 14-9 down the stretch but it did not change the outcome. 

The Saints were badly outrebounded 55-35 and allowed 18 second chance points as Humber shot nearly 46% from the field.  St. Clair did score 18 points after forcing 26 Humber turnovers and made 9 shots from long distance but only converted 25% from behind the 3-point arc.   

Kaelyn Batten (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) led the Saints in scoring with 12 points to go with 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  Lily Collins (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) had her best game of the season for St. Clair with 11 points off the bench including three triple makes.    

The Saints finish their weekend road trip at Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday which tips at 1pm.
