Women’s Basketball Start Year with Two Wins

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team hosted a pair of exhibition games Saturday evening at the SportsPlex and won both in convincing fashion.  The Saints beat George Brown College (Toronto) by a score of 84-43 and followed it up with a 76-48 victory over Georgian College (Barrie). 

Jordan Gutt (Israel) paced the Saints in the opener with 13 points which all came in the opening half that saw them ahead 45-20 at the intermission. Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford, ON) also reached double figures with 11 points but recorded the double-double after 12 rebounds to go with 7 assists. 

In the nightcap St. Clair raced to a 25-7 first quarter advantage and held Georgian to just 13 points in the first half altogether which saw the Saints ahead 44-13 by the break.  Overeem was dominant again scoring a game high 21 points with Gutt dropping in a repeat 13.  Ava Willoughby (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) chipped in with 10 points in her first collegiate action for St. Clair. 

The Saints travel to London on Thursday to square off with the University of Western Ontario which will be played at Medway High School and tips at 6:00pm.
