Women's Basketball Gain Talented Experience

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team gained some talented OUA transfers with the addition of Jordan Gutt (Netanya, Israel) and Kaitlyn Overeem (Scotland, ON) in preparation for the 2023-24 season.

The 6'0" Gutt spent three years with the University of Windsor from 2017-2020 and primarily playing the guard position but will see time at multiple spots for St. Clair.  She has international experience from her native Israel and will study in St. Clair's Fitness and Health Promotion program.

Saints Head Coach Andy Kiss commented about Gutt, "Jordan is an elite internationally experienced talent who can play multiple positions offensively and guard multiple positions defensively.  She has the skill set of a guard and at her height will create matchup problems.  Jordan is a prolific outside shooter with a quick release from three-point range.  She is also a crafty passer and scorer with a repertoire of finishes.  Jordan has a deep passion for the game and trains relentlessly."

Overeem is a 5'7" transfer guard from Waterloo and joins her younger sister Lauren who enters her second year with the Saints.  She was a former High School Athlete of the Year at St. John's College (Brantford) competing in basketball and soccer.  Overeem had an accomplished resume at Waterloo earning the OUA Rookie of the Year Award and OUA All-Star recognition in 2018-19 as well as twice being honoured as a USports Academic All-Canadian while finishing her Kinesiology degree.  This led to her being named the school's Shield Award recipient this past spring which goes to graduating Waterloo students who excelled in sports, academics and community service during their time at the school.  Overeem will be taking St. Clair's Medical Laboratory Technician program this fall.

Kiss said about Overeem, "Kaitlyn is a starting-caliber USports point guard and was a key component in Waterloo's emergence as a program which included a 1st Place finish in Western Division in 2022-23.  She is a true point guard as an elite decision-maker and passer.  Kaitlyn is a capable of scorer and has long distance range while also being an excellent defender."

"Both are legitimate impact players, strong leaders and high character women who will undoubtedly improve our outlook for 2023-24.  We are beyond thrilled that they are joining our program at St. Clair," finished Kiss.
