Women’s Basketball Set for Home Playoff vs. Durham

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team (9-0) are ready to host Durham College (Oshawa) in an OCAA ¼ final on Saturday at the SportsPlex which is set to tip at 1:00pm.  The winner of this game will advance to the Provincial Championship Final Four tournament March 16-17.  The Saints remain the #2 ranked team in the province and fell to #9 in the most recent national poll. 

After a 60-56 win over Fanshawe on Wednesday, St. Clair will face a Durham team (6-3, #7 OCAA Ranked) who won their East Division playoff over George Brown College (Toronto) by a lopsided 76-37 with four players reaching double figures.  Rookie 5'8" guard Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON) leads the Lords and sits 7th in provincial scoring at 17.6 points per game.  2nd year 5'10" forward Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, ON) has put up 15.3 points per game in only four games.  First year 6'0" Durham forward Taesia Pinnock (Pickering, ON) is 14th in OCAA scoring at 14.6 points per game but averages a double-double with 11.6 rebounds per contest.  5'8" forward Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, ON) is also a double threat with 13.7 points per game to go with 8.9 rebounds per game.  Leveridge along with Pinnock provide rim protection with each averaging more than a blocked shot per game.  As a team Durham averages the 3rd most points in the OCAA at 69.7 per game. 

St. Clair is the 2nd ranked offense in the province scoring 71.8 points per game and is the 3rd best defensive team allowing just 53.4 points per contest.  4th year guard Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) leads St. Clair in scoring at 17.1 points (OCAA 8th) and rebounding at 7.3 per game.  Sister Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) is averaging 14.5 points per game and leads the Saints in assists at 3.9 per game.  Rookie point guard Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) is also averaging double figures at 10.0 points per game to go with 3.5 assists per contest.
