Men's Volleyball Playoff Bound

(Toronto, ON)- The St. Clair men's volleyball team wrapped up their OCAA regular season schedule this past weekend on the road in the GTA area.

The men were in Etobicoke on Saturday night to take on the Humber College Hawks. The Saints fell to the Hawks 3-0. Set scores for Humber were 25-20, 25-11 and 25-23.  Rookie outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) had a solid game with 8 kills on 16 attempts, 1 service ace, and 3 digs.  Rookie outside hitter Eric Glos (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) had a good game as well with 7 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff blocks and 5 digs.

With the win Humber's record improved to 13-5. The Hawks are ranked 3rd in Ontario.

On Sunday afternoon, the Saints were in Oakville to take on the Sheridan College Bruins in a game that had no impact on the final standings for either squad. Set scores for Sheridan were 25-18, 25-17, and 25-16.

With the win Sheridan ended their season with a record of 7-11.

With the losses on the weekend St. Clair ends the regular season with a record of 8-10 and in 7th place in the tough West Division. The regular season was a huge improvement for the Saints who went 1-8 in the COVID shortened season last year and missed the playoffs.

The Saints will now travel to Canadore College (2nd East Division) in North Bay to take on the Panthers on Saturday at 6 pm. The winner will advance to the OCAA Championship from February 23-25 at Fanshawe College.
