Men's Volleyball Lose Tight Match to End Semester

(Windsor, ON)- The St. Clair men's volleyball team wrapped up their first semester OCAA schedule with a tough 3-2 loss to the Niagara College Knights (Welland) on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex. In a very entertaining back and forth match the Knights took the fifth and deciding set 16-14.

Set scores for Niagara were 16-25, 25-23, 12-25, 25-18 and 16-14.

Rookie outside hitter Kale Wilkinson (Windsor; Riverside) led the way offensively for the Saints with 14 kills, 3 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 4 digs. Second year middle Jonah Certossi (Belle River; Belle River District) had a great match as well with 8 kills, 3 stuff blocks and a 368 kill percentage. Second year outside hitter Marc Galipeau (LaSalle; Sandwich) had a solid match as well with 12 kills, 3 stuff blocks, 1 service ace and 9 digs.

With the win St. Clair dropped to 4-5 on the season while Niagara improved to 6-3. Niagara is ranked 5th in Ontario. It was the fourth time in 9 matches the Saints have gone to a fifth and deciding set. St. Clair has won 18 sets and lost 20.

The Saints are now off for the exam and Christmas break and will return to action on Wednesday, January 11 when then host Fanshawe College at the Sportsplex at 8 pm.
