Men's Volleyball Drop Two Matches on Weekend

(Windsor, ON)- The St. Clair men's volleyball team continued their OCAA regular season schedule at home this weekend with two tough games at the Sportsplex.

On Saturday afternoon the Saints hosted the high ranked Redeemer University Royals (Ancaster) and suffered a 3-0 loss.

Set scores for Redeemer were 25-20, 25-11 and 25-18. Jacob Derksen (Cottam; Essex District) led the way for the Saints with 10 kills, 1 stuff block, and 6 digs. With the win Redeemer's record improved to 5-1 on the season. The Royals are ranked in 3rd in Ontario and 10th in Canada.

On Sunday afternoon the Saints took on the Niagara Knights (Welland) and fell by a score of 3-0. It was Senior Day for the St. Clair who honoured graduating players Takanori Aona, Simran Pahal, Ubert Batista Blake Harnadek and Owen Kemp prior to the match.

Set scores for Niagara were 26-24, 25-13 and 25-16. Middle Ubert Batista (Panama) had a solid match with 4 kills on 6 attempts, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block and 1 dig.

With the two losses on the weekend the Saints are now 1-6 while Niagara improved to 3-4.

The Saints play their final home game of the season on Friday, March 4 at 2:30 pm when they host the top ranked Humber Hawks at the Sportsplex.
