(Sudbury, ON)- The St. Clair men's volleyball team continued their OCAA regular season schedule on the road for two games this weekend and came away with a split.
On Saturday, the Saints were in Sudbury to take on the College Boreal Vipers and came away with a convincing 3-0 win. With the loss Boreal fell to 0-4 on the season. Set scores for St. Clair were 25-18, 25-11, and 25-19. Rookie outside hitter Marc Galipeau (LaSalle; Sandwich) had a solid game in his first OCAA match with 6 kills, 3 service aces, 1 stuff block, 3 assists and 4 digs. Middle Ubert Batista (Panama) had a great game as well with 8 kills, 2 service aces and 2 stuff blocks.

The men were also in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon to take on the Cambrian College Golden Shield and suffered a 3-0 loss. With the win Cambrian's record improved to 2-2. The Golden Shield are ranked 8th in Ontario. Set scores for Cambrian were 25-18, 29-27, and 25-17. The Saints had 3 set points in the second set but could not close the game to even the match. Jacob Derksen (Cottam; Essex District) led the way offensively for St. Clair with 13 kills, 1 service ace, 2 stuff blocks and 2 digs. Batista had another great match with 7 kills on 9 attempts, 2 service aces, and 1 stuff block.

With the split on the weekend St. Clair's record now sits at 1-4. The Saints are next in action at home at the Sportsplex on Saturday, February 26 at 3 pm against the Redeemer Royals for their first of three straight home matches.
