Men's Soccer Earn Split on the Road

The St. Clair College men's soccer team was on the road this past weekend and came home with a split.

On Saturday afternoon, the Saints were in Ancaster and fell 2-0 Redeemer University Royals.

Both teams battled hard in the first half but the score was knotted at 0-0 at the half. Redeemer got on the board in the 67^th minute. St. Clair pressed hard for the equalizer but could not get one past the keeper and Redeemer put the game away in the 87^th minute. The Royals had 15 shot attempts while the Saints had 10.

Redeemer's record improved to 2-1 on the season with the win.

On Sunday afternoon, the Saints were in Welland to take on the Niagara Knights and earned their first win of the season with a hard fought 2-1 result.

The Knight's went up 1-0 in the 27^th minute. The Saints applied the pressure but did not get the equalizer until the 73^rd minute on a goal by Guilherme Silva (Sao Paolo; Brazil). Shortly after Silva got the winner on an assist by Seve Oglan (Windsor; St. Joseph's) in the 77^th minute. The Saints had 15 shot attempts compared to 13 for the Knights. Ned Malic (Windsor; Sandwich) was solid in goal stopping 4 of 5 shots on target.

Niagara's record fell to 1-3 with the loss.

St. Clair currently has 1 win, 2 losses and a tie on the season.
