Men's Soccer Earn Split on the Road

The St. Clair College men's soccer team was on the road this past weekend and came home with a split.

On Saturday afternoon, the Saints were in Ancaster and fell 2-0 Redeemer University Royals.

Both teams battled hard in the first half but the score was knotted at 0-0 at the half. Redeemer got on the board in the 67th minute. St. Clair pressed hard for the equalizer but could not get one past the keeper and Redeemer put the game away in the 87th minute. The Royals had 15 shot attempts while the Saints had 10.

Redeemer's record improved to 2-1 on the season with the win.

On Sunday afternoon, the Saints were in Welland to take on the Niagara Knights and earned their first win of the season with a hard fought 2-1 result.

The Knight's went up 1-0 in the 27th minute. The Saints applied the pressure but did not get the equalizer until the 73rd minute on a goal by Guilherme Silva (Sao Paolo; Brazil). Shortly after Silva got the winner on an assist by Seve Oglan (Windsor; St. Joseph's) in the 77th minute. The Saints had 15 shot attempts compared to 13 for the Knights. Ned Malic (Windsor; Sandwich) was solid in goal stopping 4 of 5 shots on target.

Niagara's record fell to 1-3 with the loss.

St. Clair currently has 1 win, 2 losses and a tie on the season.
