Men's Soccer Lose Heartbreaker Playoff Game in PKs

Toronto, ON- The St. Clair college men's soccer team took to pitch on Saturday afternoon in Toronto in OCAA Quarterfinal playoff action against the Seneca Sting.  In an exciting back and forth match the Saints ended up losing in Penalty Kicks 5-4.

The Saints went up 2-0 early on goals by Paolo Davia (Windsor; St. Joseph's) in the 11th minute and Massimo Pollard (Windsor; Holy Names) in the 15th minute. Seneca tied things up late in the first half with 2 quick goals in the 41st and 43rd minutes of play.

There was no scoring in the second half which sent the game to 30 minutes of overtime. Seneca jumped out to a 4-2 lead with goals in the 93rd and 95th minutes. However, St. Clair would not go away and tied the game at 4 with goals by Moussa Nizam (Windsor; Kennedy) in the 109th minute and Davia in the 116th minute.

Seneca were the 2nd place team in the OCAA East Division while the Saints were 3rd in the tough West Division.

This sent the game to penalty kicks to determine a birth in the OCAA Final Four Championship. Unfortunately, the Saints missed their first 2 kicks and Seneca didn't miss any of their first four to win the match.

Fortunately for the St. Clair men their season is not over. The Saints are hosting the CCAA Men's Soccer Nationals from November 8-11 at Acumen Stadium and gain automatic entry as host. St. Clair will open the tournament featuring the top 8 teams in Canada on Wednesday, November 8 at 5:30 pm
