Men's Indoor Soccer Settle for 4th in Ontario

(Vaughan, ON) The St. Clair men's varsity indoor soccer team were in Vaughan to take part in Day 2 of the OCAA Championship on Friday at the Ontario Soccer Centre. The Saints qualified for the semifinal against Fanshawe College by finishing first in their pool on Thursday.

In the semifinal, Fanshawe went up 1-0 early in the second half on a solid strike. St. Clair bounced back to tie the game quickly 1-1. The Saints had several chances to take the lead but the soccer gods were not on their side as they hit 4 posts and some calls did not go their way. The game went to sudden death overtime and the Falcons won it early on a couple of strange bounces to advance to the Gold medal match.

St. Clair now had to take on Conestoga College for the Bronze medal after the disappointing loss. The Saints lost 1-0 to the Condors on Thursday in round robin play.

Conestoga went up 2-0 in the match early in the second half but the Saints made it 2-1 midway through the half.  St. Clair had a couple great chances late but could not get the equalizer to force overtime.

Nestor Lopez (Windsor; FJ Brennan) was named a Championship All Star.
