Men’s Basketball Stop Lambton at Home
Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team ran to a 96-78 win over Lambton College (Sarnia) Wednesday night at the SportsPlex moving their record to 12-2 and still hold 2nd Place in the OCAA's West Division.
A seesaw affair in the early stages led to St. Clair moving slightly ahead by a score of 24-23 after the first quarter even though Lambton hit a 60-foot buzzer beater to end the frame. Lambton moved in front (26-24) for the last time early in the second before the Saints tied it up. Then came the game's 12th and final lead change as St. Clair seized control and never looked back to hold a 45-34 advantage by the halftime intermission. The Saints inched further in front at 75-60 after the third and expanded their lead to 19 points a few minutes into the fourth allowing them to coast down the stretch.
St. Clair did most of their damage around the basket scoring 58 points in the paint after forcing 28 Lambton turnovers. The Saints shot over 50% from the floor in the game and only needed 8 triples to secure the win.
St. Clair's Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) scored a game high 30 points which included 6 makes from distance to go with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) netted 23 points while adding 5 rebounds and 3 steals for the Saints while teammate Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) filled his stat line with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Ethan Reid-Massiah (Toronto, ON) chipped in with 10 points off the St. Clair bench and Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI) dished out an impressive 11 assists and added 7 points to go with 3 steals.
With four games remaining in their regular season slate St. Clair travels to London on Saturday to face Fanshawe College.
