Men’s Basketball Slip by Canadore in North Bay
North Bay, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team (11-2) used a good fourth quarter to secure an 85-71 win over Canadore College in North Bay Saturday afternoon. The Saints have a firm hold on second place in the OCAA's West Division and are ranked #3 in province while sitting at #6 in the latest national poll.
Canadore (1-12) looked upset minded in the early stages fighting to just a 21-19 deficit after the opening frame, but St. Clair answered well in the second quarter for a 47-33 halftime lead. The home team would not go quietly working to within a basket (59-57) at the 1:27 mark of the third quarter and the Saints clung to just a 61-57 advantage heading to the fourth. St. Clair was able outplay Canadore down the stretch forcing eight turnovers and held the Panthers to just 28% shooting and no triples in the final ten minutes.
The Saints tallied 23 points off 19 Canadore turnovers in the contest while outscoring the Panthers 34-16 in the paint and 28-13 in reserve production.
Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) continued his fine play for St. Clair recording his fifth double-double of the season on a game high 24 points and 12 rebounds.
