Men’s Basketball Take Two on Road

Ancaster/Kitchener, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team raised their record to 5-0 atop the West Division with a pair of wins this past weekend beating Redeemer University (Ancaster) 109-97 Friday night and then cut down Conestoga College (Kitchener) 98-72 Saturday afternoon. The Saints remain the top-rated team in the province and the #2 squad in the national rankings.

St. Clair needed to come from behind in Friday's win after trailing 30-24 following the first quarter and then 55-50 at the break.  A strong second half allowed the Saints to overtake Redeemer as they converted 55% from the floor while forcing 20 turnovers.  Reserve production was key for St. Clair as they outscored Redeemer 37-23 in that category as well as taking a 12-4 advantage in second chance points.

Jadon Tillman (Warren, MI) led the Saints with 24 points and added 7 assists while teammate Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) netted 23 points to go with 8 rebounds.  Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI) filled the stat line with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench and Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) had 16 points adding 6 assists for St. Clair.

Saturday's win over Conestoga was less contentious as the Saints were ahead 25-20 after the opening frame and 48-38 by halftime.  A big third saw St. Clair double up the home team 34-17 in the quarter on nearly 60% shooting from the floor allowing them to put the game out of reach.

Five Saints reached double figures topped by Frye's 21 points who added 7 rebounds off the bench.  Brown-Fazekas recorded a double-double for St. Clair with 20 points and 10 rebounds with Masters scoring 12 points to go with 6 assists.  Ahmad Khazaleh (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) also had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.  A notable performance was turned in by St. Clair's Malcolm Perrin (St. Catharines, ON) who fell just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

The Saints are next in action on their SportsPlex homecourt on Saturday when they host Fanshawe College (London) at 3:00pm.
