Sarnia, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team moved their West Division leading record to 3-0 early with a 91-68 win over Lambton College in Sarnia Wednesday night. The Saints are the top-rated team in the OCAA and started at #2 in the initial Canadian rankings that were released on Tuesday.
St. Clair started well Wednesday night building a 29-17 cushion over Lambton heading to the second quarter and increased their lead to 57-39 by the intermission. The Saints went ahead by their biggest margin at 25 points with just under four minutes to go in the third and were able to share the minutes down the stretch.
The St. Clair defense only allowed Lambton to shoot 35% from the field and even though turnovers were relatively close (20-23) the Saints outscored the home team 24-14 off those miscues. St. Clair also enjoyed a 47-38 advantage in rebounding and scored 21 second-chance points.
Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) scored a game high 19 points including four triples and topped four Saints in double figures. Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) had 17 points to go with 5 steals and Ethan Reid-Massiah (Toronto, ON) netted 13 points off the bench while Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) chipped in with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for St. Clair.
The Saints next go to Redeemer University (Ancaster) Nov. 8th followed by a matchup at Conestoga College (Kitchener) on Nov. 9th. St. Clair will be at home against Fanshawe College (London) on Nov. 16th.
