Coffey Off to Solid Start at Golf Nationals

(Oct 17) Ajax, ON- The St. Clair College women's golf team got off to a decent start in Round 1 of the 2022 CCAA Golf National Championships presented by PING.  The event is being played at Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax Ontario and is being hosted by Durham College. It was a very cold, wet and windy day for the competitors.

Shannon Coffey (Windsor; Brennan) had a solid start to the Championship shooting an 83 on the par 72 course. After a slow start on the front nine shooting 43 she bounced back with a 40 on the next nine holes. She is currently tied for 7th place but only 4 strokes out of first place with three rounds to play.

In the conference women's competition OCAA Team 2 which Coffey is a member of is tied for 2nd place but only 4 strokes out of first.

Sophia Fallea (LaSalle; Villanova) shot a 91 on the day while Megan Schaafsma (Essex; Essex District) came in with a 103 in some very tough conditions.
