Saints Advance to OFC Final with Win Over Ottawa

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair Saints Football team has punched their ticket to the OFC Championship game after defeating the Ottawa Sooners 34-6 in the OFC Semi-Final game at Acumen Stadium.

The Saints defense put together yet another impressive performance on Sunday night only allowing 35 rushing yards and 109 passing yards, the lone Ottawa touchdown was scored after the Sooners were given good field position. With the OFC Defensive Player of The Year in Jaylin Burnett (South St. Paul, Minnesota) sideline for the game, someone had to fill the void, and that someone was Kendy Montoban (Paris, France) who had a monster game at Defensive Tackle registering 4 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 2 sacks and 3.5 Tackles for Loss. Defensive End Anthony Adams (Pickering, ON) also chipped in with a solo tackle, 4 assisted tackles, 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss. Linebacker Mo Ibraheem (Etobicoke, ON) had an interception on the day as well.

The offense opened the scoring when QB Maurice Sodja (Louisville, Kentucky) hit Cameron St. Kitts-Park (Oshawa, ON) for a 7-yard touchdown. St. Kitts-Park who was just named to the OFC All-Star team had a big night tallying 109 receiving yards on 6 receptions. The offense stalled for a bit and saw the Saints score on 2 conceded safeties by the Sooners and a trio of field goals made by Kicker Jack Lewis (London, England) extending the lead to 17-0. All-Star Running Back M.J Doyle-Marshall (Airdrie, AB) punched in a rushing touchdown from 6-yards out to give the Saints a 24-7 lead after 3 quarters. Quarterback Matt Guenette (Windsor, ON) came in to close out the game for the Saints when he hit All-Star Receiver Darius France (Windsor, ON) for a 13-yard touchdown reception.

The Saints will now look to defend their OFC Championship title against rival London Beefeaters this coming weekend. More game details to come throughout the week.
