
Fourth Straight Undefeated Regular Season for Saints Football
Hamilton, ON – The St. Clair Saints Football team have secured their fourth straight undefeated regular season with a 75-10 blowout win over the Hamilton Hurricanes on Sunday at Tim Hortons Field. Since joining St. Clair College, the team has played 4 seasons and have an incredible 32-0 regular season record.
A game that saw everyone touch the field and garner touches, it quickly turned into a rushing frenzy. The Saints rushed the ball 22 times for 272 rushing yards and tallied 5 rushing touchdowns. Running Back Jesse Burella (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) was the rushing leader on 4 attempts for 89 yards with a touchdown. Quarterback Maurice Sodja (Louisville, Kentucky) ran the ball twice and found the endzone both times, one of them for 77-yards and the other for 3-yards. M.J Doyle-Marshall (Airdrie, AB) also had 2 rushing touchdowns on the day, with Sodja and Doyle-Marshall's 2 rushing touchdowns, both finished with 11 rushing touchdowns on the season. Receiver Cameron St. Kitts-Park (Oshawa, ON) caught 2 more touchdown passes from Sodja and finished with 9 receiving touchdowns on the season. Sodja ended the season with 21 touchdown passes and led the Saints for a total of 32 touchdowns on the season. Wide Receiver Andrew Walker (Calgary, AB) caught the other touchdown pass from QB Matt Guenette (Windsor, ON). Tai Colquhoun (Windsor, ON) added a 61-yard punt return touchdown for the Special Teams unit.
The Defense found the endzone for the fifth time this season, when Defensive Back Nikolas Mahlman (Kitchener, ON) returned his interception for a 20-yard touchdown. Mahlman also added 3 solo tackles in what was another dominant defensive performance from the Saints. Linebacker Chartez Wiley (Las Vegas, Nevada) made a big impact, as he had 3 solo tackles and 2 tackle for losses.
The Saints will enjoy a well-deserved bye week as the OFC Quarter-Final matchups will take place. They will await their OFC Semi-Final opponent who will be the winner of Ottawa and Hamilton. The Semi-Final is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th at Acumen Stadium. Kick-off is 7:00pm.
