Football Continues to Roll in Rout Over Ottawa
Windsor, ON – In what was an anticipated matchup between the St. Clair Saints and the Ottawa Sooners, Saints Nation saw the green and gold take care of business in dominating fashion with a 47-7 win. The Saints now move to 5-0 and remain atop of the Ontario Football Conference.
A game where the defense asserted their dominance once again, the Saints had an incredible 5 interceptions, 6 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Defensive Back Gaddy Kazadi (London, ON) had a tremendous night accounting for 2 of the interceptions but also leading the team in tackles with 5. Linebacker Mo Ibraheem (Etobicoke, ON) also had a big night, taking his interception to the endzone for a pick six and adding 2 tackles for loss. Defensive Backs Billy Patterson Jr. (Windsor, ON) and Nick Baeini (Leamington, ON) had the other interceptions for the Saints. Defensive Ends Anthony Adams (Pickering, ON) and Jaylin Burnett (South St. Paul, Minnesota) wreaked havoc in the Sooners backfield where they both registered 2 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2 tackles for losses.
Quarterback Maurice Sodja (Louisville, Kentucky) had another impressive night both in the passing game and the run game. Sodja completed 12 of 17 passes for 202 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, while also gaining 140 rushing yards on 14 carries and 2 rushing touchdowns. Running Back MJ Doyle-Marshall (Airdrie, AB) broke the century mark again on the ground where he rushed for 105 yards on 15 carries and adding another rushing touchdown. Wide Receivers Darius France (Windsor, ON) and Cam St. Kitts-Park (Oshawa, ON) both hauled in touchdown receptions and accounted for 8 of the 12 completions by Sodja.
The Saints will now look to rivalry night next Saturday, September 21st at Acumen Stadium where they will take on the London Beefeaters. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm.
