Saints Cruise to Victory Over Hurricanes

Hamilton, ON – A beautiful day for Football at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton saw the Saints blow out the Hamilton Hurricanes 51-1 and move to 7-0 on the season.

A quick start for the Saints saw all three sides of the ball put points on the board in the first quarter. A Preston Knight (Leamington, ON) 31-yard field goal had the Saints up 3-0, 5 minutes later Quarterback Matt Guenette (Windsor, ON) hit Wideout Enzey Youyoute (Mississauga, ON) for a 36-yard touchdown reception extending the lead to 10-0. Less than 2 minutes Defensive Back Gammy Kazadi (London, ON) scooped up a fumble and took it to the house, giving the Saints a 17-0 lead to end the first. In the second quarter Guenette threw a 57-yard touchdown to WR Zack Burmaster (Hamilton, ON) who trucked his way into the endzone. Another Preston Knight field goal had the Saints up 27-0 headed into the half.

The second half was much like the first, the Saints defense was dominant, and the offense scored points. The first drive of the half for the offense was capped off by a Maurice Sodja (Louisville, Kentucky, USA) 2-yard rushing touchdown. Later in the third quarter, a Saints fumble found its way into the endzone which was pounced on by WR Tristan Rutherford (Windsor, ON) extending the Saints lead to 41-0. The third quarter was closed out by the final Preston Knight field goal who finished perfect on the day going 3-3 on Field Goal tries and 5-5 on the Point After Attempts. A 44-0 lead in the 4th saw the Saints get multiple players in the game, giving everyone the experience of playing on Tim Hortons Field. A single by Hamilton broke the shutout and a 10-yard rush by Boriz Wright (Windsor, ON) ended the game with the scoreboard reading 51-1 in favour of the first place Saints.

A dominant performance by the Saints defense forced the Hurricanes into having 7 turnovers. Defensive Back Nathaniel Norton (Windsor, ON) recorded 2 interceptions, while Billy Patterson Jr. (Windsor, ON) and Fola Adeniyi (Hamilton, ON) added interceptions as well.

The Saints are back at Acumen Stadium next Saturday, October 7th when they take on the Quinte Skyhawks. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm.
