St. Clair Fratmen Football Defeat Beefeaters in London

London, ON – The St. Clair Fratmen (4-0) swept their Ontario Football Conference regular season series in London Saturday afternoon at City Wide Sports Park with a 51-28 defeat of the Beefeaters (3-2).

The Fratmen started out fast when quarterback Michael Beale (LaSalle, ON) hit Marcus Cooper (Windsor, ON) on the first play from scrimmage for a 53-yard pass and score down the left sideline.  Six minutes later Beale hit Dante Lewis (Windsor, ON) with a 13-yard pass for another major.  Late in the first quarter St. Clair conceded a pair of safeties and surrendered a rushing touchdown to London.  But the Fratmen still led 14-11 heading to the second quarter.

It was all St. Clair before the half who put up three touchdowns in the frame including another two in the air from Beale to Brendan McCraney (Windsor, ON) for 77 yards and another to Cody Holmes (Windsor, ON) that went for 75 yards.  Beale accounted for the other major with a 1-yard goal line plunge late in the half and a 37-11 Fratmen advantage at the intermission.

London cut into the 26-point deficit scoring fifteen points in the third quarter, but St. Clair's Holmes hauled in his second touchdown of the game on a pass and score measured at 32 yards from Beale.

The Fratmen gave up a punt block for a safety early in the fourth quarter but then salted the game away on the ground with Jacob Savoni (Amherstburg, ON) running in a touchdown from three yards out late in the game to put a bow on the outcome.

Fratmen kicker Jake Holloway (Franklin, Tennessee) had another fine day converting all seven touchdowns to go with another two single point results on long kickoffs.

Leading St. Clair defensively were linebacker Braeden MacDougall (Windsor, ON) who had 8 tackles and defensive back Kenley Williams (Brampton, ON) with a pair of interceptions to go with four tackles.

Beale finished with 308 yards passing completing 11 of his 20 attempts to go with 5 touchdowns and an interception.  Holmes led the Fratmen receivers with 125 yards including his two majors while Savoni rushed for 110 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown.

The Fratmen are next in action Sat, Oct. 9th when they host the Quinte Skyhawks (1-4) with an 8pm kickoff at Acumen Stadium.
