Women's Softball Shutout Humber at OCAA’s
Oshawa, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team shutout Humber Polytechnic (Etobicoke) 3-0 in their Friday afternoon game at the OCAA Provincial Championship tournament being hosted by Durham College in Oshawa. The Saints will now meet host Durham at 5:30pm in the gold medal semi-final.
St. Clair's Ashley Marchand (Fergus, ON) singled home Zahnyah Jackson (Brampton, ON) to open the scoring in the 3rd inning and it stayed 1-0 until the 7th. Jackson drove in another run for the Saints in the final frame and scored again after Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) plated her on an RBI single. But Danna Juarez (Airdrie, AB) was the story again who went the distance for the second straight day in a shutout pitching performance earning Player of the Game recognition for St. Clair. Over seven innings of work she scattered three hits and a walk but struck out three Humber batters.
