Four Commitments Sign with St. Clair Women's Softball

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team are happy to lock in commitments from four out of town recruits with the signing of 6'0" 1B/3B Ada Umerah (Maple, ON/Hodan Nalayeh SS), 5'6" C/SS/OF Kamryn Coombs (Atwood, ON/Listowel District SS), 5'7" 1B/OF Brooke Cameron (Rimbey, AB/Rimbey Jr Sr HS) and 5'3" P/1B Danna Juarez (Airdrie, AB/George McDougall HS).

Umerah will start in St. Clair's Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts in Social Justice and Legal Studies degree program this fall and has played with Etobicoke Mayhem at the club level.

Saints Head Coach Doug Wiseman complimented Umerah, "We are fortunate to add Ada who is a highly touted player from the GTA.  She is an excellent hitter and will bring some thunder to our lineup.  I believe Ada will be an impact player in the OCAA and can play either corner infield position."

Coombs will study in the Protection, Security and Investigation program and spent club time with the Palmerston Imperials and London Lightning.  She also was an accomplished hockey player in high school.

Wiseman said about Coombs, "Kamryn is an exciting player who can play multiple positions very well.  I first noticed how competitive Kamryn played, no matter the situation.  Her versatility is her strength and is aggressive offensively and defensively."

The Saints dipped into western Canada for Cameron who will get her start academically in St. Clair's Pre-Health Science program.  Her development teams included the River City Hornets and the Southern Alberta Revolution where she won Provincial Silver and took 4th at Nationals in 2023.  Cameron also competed in volleyball and basketball at Rimbey High School.

Wiseman was quoted, "Brooke is a very competitive player who is an exceptional power hitter.  Brooke's competitiveness and willingness to perfect her game is unmatched.  She is aggressive at the plate who will add another consistent hitter to the lineup.  Brooke gives us versatility as she plays 1st base and in the outfield with an outstanding arm."

Juarez also played with Cameron in the Southern Alberta Revolution program and will study Pre-Health Science.  She was an All-Star player and won a provincial championship at the club level.

Wiseman praised Juarez, "Danna is a confident and composed pitcher in the circle.  She is very aware of her surroundings and is a tremendous addition to our Saints Softball team. In addition, Danna swings a strong bat and hits for high average with some pop."

Wiseman finished, "I am excited to be announcing such a competitive group of recruits to our softball team.  We are really looking forward to seeing them all make the transition to the OCAA softball league."
