St. Clair Women’s Softball Collect OCAA Awards

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team were the beneficiary of OCAA League Awards Wednesday with eight players being recognized.

OCAA First-Team All-Star selections included Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener, ON), Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names), Sierra Baltzer (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) and Ashley Ventura (Fergus, ON) while Second-Team members included Mckenna Copley (Dover Centre, ON), Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex) and Jacklyn Yewchyn (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) with Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) winning the batting title. 

3B/P Kressler batted .473 with 45 RBI while scoring 43 times this past season and tied atop the league lead in homeruns at six with centerfield teammate Baltzer who batted .506 adding 31 RBI who also scored 43 times to go with 10 stolen bases.  Kressler also added a 2-1 record and a save on the pitching strip with a 2.43 ERA in 23.0 IP.  Murphy played shortstop while batting .505 including a league leading 11 doubles with 29 RBI and 38 runs scored.  Freshman player Ventura was voted the OCAA's top catcher and a member of the All-Rookie team for batting .368 with 24 RBI along with 23 runs scored. 

Copley led the OCAA with a 13-1 record in the pitching circle including six complete games while sporting a 2.04 ERA over 68.2 IP and struck out 68 batters on the year.  Lafleur batted .393 and 9 RBI while scoring 22 times after 16 stolen bases with first baseman Yewchyn not far behind at .367 and 17 RBI. 

Claydon claimed her second batting title with a .551 adding 31 RBI and 4 homeruns splitting time between designated hitter and pitching herself to 7-0 record with a 0.69 ERA.
