Women's Softball Too Much for Lambton

Sarnia, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team started a 6-game weekend road trip with a doubleheader sweep of Lambton College at Tecumseh Park in Sarnia Friday night with scores of 14-0 and 21-3 pushing their undefeated record to 10-0 atop the OCAA standings. 

Sierra Baltzer (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) and Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener) each homered in game one as the Saints bashed 20 hits and only needed five innings to secure the mercy shortened victory.  Kressler finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and scored twice with Baltzer crossing the plate three times to go with an RBI.  Alivia Peterson (Windsor, ON/St. Anne) could not be stopped going 4-for-4 including a triple with two RBI and scored four times.  Jacklyn Yewchyn (Windsor, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) was nearly as impressive going 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBI.  Mckenna Copley (Dover Centre) only allowed one hit and a walk while striking out five Lambton batters over five innings. 

St. Clair outdid themselves in game two with 23 total hits in the 5-inning mercy led by Madison Barber (Caledon, ON) who was 4-for-4 including a triple and drove in three runners while scoring three times herself.  Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names), Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) and Kressler each recorded three hits in the game with Baltzer registering three more RBI.  Copley picked up her sixth win of the season after striking out five batters in three innings of relief. 

St. Clair heads to London on Saturday to meet Durham College (Oshawa) and host Fanshawe College for a pair of games.
