St. Clair College Women's Softball Hold Mohawk Scoreless Sunday

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team were dominant on Sunday at the SportsPark diamond holding Mohawk College (Hamilton) scoreless in a pair of victories that pushed their undefeated record to 8-0 atop the OCAA standings.  The Saints only surrendered four hits in the doubleheader winning by scores of 10-0 and 15-0.

Up 4-0 after the second inning of the opening game St. Clair used a 6-run fifth to close out the win.  Julia Brusseau (Lakeshore, ON/St. Anne) had a double and 3-run inside the park homerun to walk-off the contest in the fifth.  Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) and Ashley Ventura (Fergus, ON) each also had a pair of hits in the game which aided Mckenna Copley (Dover Centre) who struck out five Mohawk batters with only three hits against on her way to the 5-inning pitching victory.

The Saints made short work of Mohawk in the final game of the day scoring nine runs in the second inning and finished the contest off with six runs in the third inning.  Claydon did it all only allowing one hit in three innings of work on the pitching strip with no runs against while striking out four batters but had a pair of doubles as part of a 3-hit game at the plate that drove in three runs.  Sierra Baltzer (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) and Bryanna Kressler (Kitchener, ON) each had two hits and three rbi's in the game for the St. Clair.  Brusseau, Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) and Madison Barber (Caledon, ON) each added two hits for the Saints who racked up 16 base knocks in the game.

St. Clair go on the road next weekend for a three city 6-game road trip starting with a doubleheader Friday night at Lambton College (Sarnia).  On Saturday they visit London for games against Durham College (Oshawa) and host Fanshawe College.  They finish on Sunday in Hamilton against Seneca College (North York) and host Mohawk College.
