Men’s Baseball Advance to OCAA Gold Medal Round

Sarnia, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball had a great effort Friday night at the OCAA Championship in a dominant 7-1 win over host Lambton College which allowed the Saints to advance to the gold medal round on Saturday at 1:00pm.  The winner of the morning game between Lambton and Durham will determine their opponent and the Saints will have to be beaten twice to be unseeded in their ques for a 4th consecutive provincial title.

St. Clair used a steady attack Friday night scoring a single in the 1st and 2nd innings before Lambton got on the board with a single in the 3rd.  However, the Saints used a 3-run bottom half and put the game away with a 2-run 4th inning.  Spencer Morin (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Andrew Sleiman (Leamington, ON/Cardinal Carter) each had three hits in the game for St. Clair but Rowan Glasgow (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich clubbed a double and a deep homer.

Jake Heinbuch (Stratford, ON) was remarkable on the hill for the Saints and was rewarded with the Player of the Game Award.  He went the distance giving up just one run on five hits and a walk but struck out 13 Lambton victims.
