Men’s Baseball Win Home Opener Games

Tecumseh, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team enjoyed their home opener games at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh Saturday evening and moved to 4-0 with a doubleheader sweep of George Brown College (Toronto).  The games had a delayed start, but it didn't dampen the festivities as the Saints rolled to 13-1 and 6-0 victories in front a nice crowd.

After a scoreless 1st inning St. Clair exploded for a 7-0 lead after the 2nd and outscored the visitors 4-1 in the 3rd.  With the mercy differential in hand the Saints added a pair of insurance runs in the 4th inning to complete the scoring.  Rookie second baseman Jordan Miller (Kitchener, ON) led St. Clair at the plate with three doubles that drove in five runs.  4th year catcher Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBI while Mitch McCosh (Belle River, ON/Belle River) and Tyler Brown-Amlin (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) each had two hits apiece for the Saints.  2nd year St. Clair starter Brady Knelsen (Leamington, ON/Leamington) earned his second win of the season giving up just one earned run on three hits and two walks over four innings of work but struck out 5 batters.

4th year St. Clair starter Brock Whitson (Chatham, ON) was the story in game two as he went the distance for his second win and only gave up two hits and two walks with no runs against but struck out a remarkable 12 George Brown batters.  2nd year transfer Rowan Glasgow (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) cleared the bases with a double in the 2nd inning to put the Saints ahead 3-0.  St. Clair added three more runs in the 5th inning to finish the scoring.  Real collected another double on the day and later scored.  The Saints only needed four hits in the game to earn the win, but they benefitted from 7 free passes.

The Saints finish the weekend homestand against Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
