Men’s Baseball Dominant in Sault to Start 2024

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team swept a doubleheader Saturday afternoon against Sault College at Sinclair Yards in Sault Ste. Marie's IDA Park.  Cooler temperatures were in place, but the Saints used strong pitching performances to hold the host scoreless in 7-0 and 16-0 victories to start their OCAA regular season 2-0. 

In the opener 2nd year St. Clair hurler Brady Knelsen (Leamington, ON/Leamington) threw a 1-hit complete game shoutout and struck-out 10 batters over 7 innings.  Rookie infielder Jordan Miller (Kitchener, ON) had two hits and scored a run to help the Saints offensively. 

4th year starter Brock Whitson (Chatham, ON) was equally dominant in game two as St. Clair shortened the game to five innings after producing 18 hits in the contest.  Whitson struck out 8 batters and surrendered only one hit and walk.  Miller set the table well in the leadoff spot for the Saints hitting a double but also had four walks allowing him to cross the plate four times.  St. Clair's Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) was 4-for-5 with four singles and a pair of RBI while Mitch McCosh (Belle River, ON/Belle River) was 3-for-4 with four RBI.

The Saints come home next weekend for a pair of doubleheaders at Lacasse Park.  The Saints host George Brown College (Toronto, ON) on Saturday evening before capping the homestand against Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday afternoon.
