Men’s Baseball Start OCAA’s with Win
Aurora, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team started their quest for another OCAA Championship Friday morning in Aurora, ON at Stewart Burnett Park and came away with a 14-2 mercy shortened win over Centennial College (Scarborough). However, when rains came later in the day the Saints could not begin their evening match-up with Durham College (Oshawa) that would decide who would advance to the gold medal round. The game was postponed until Saturday morning at 9am.
St. Clair fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning but quickly responded with three runs in the bottom half. A 6-run second inning put the game out of reach as the Saints added single runs in the third and fourth for good measure. Centennial only could answer with a run in the fourth before St. Clair used a 3-run fifth that included a homerun by OCAA All-Rookie team selection Mitch McCosh (Belle River, ON/Belle River) to seal the deal.
McCosh, Josh Anderson (Ajax, ON), Owen Levesque (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) and Owen Findlay (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) each had two hits for the Saints. McCosh had four RBI and a double in addition to his game ending dinger. Tyler Brown-Amlin (Windsor, ON/Sandwich) pitched into the fourth inning for the abbreviated win allowing three hits and an earned run. Cody Moore (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) pitched the remainder in scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts.
In other results on Friday Humber lost 11-7 to Durham before eliminating Centennial with a 9-8 extra inning victory.
