St. Clair Men’s Baseball Finish Home Schedule in Style

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team finished their home schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Lambton College (Sarnia) Thursday night at Mic Mac Park's Cullen Stadium taking the opening game by a score of 10-1 and then fashioned a combined no-hitter in an 8-1 nightcap.

After falling behind by a run in the first inning, the Saints rattled off six runs in the bottom half assuming control of the first game and added single runs in each of the next four innings.  St. Clair starter Cody Moore (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) pitched a complete game to earn his fourth win of the season spreading out three hits with only one earned run against but struck out six and did not allow a free pass.  Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) pushed his average to .550 with a pair of hits.  Hunter Appleyard (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) and Carter Reh (Harrow, ON/Kingsville) each also had two hits for the Saints.

Game two saw St. Clair go ahead 5-0 after the opening frame and 8-1 after the second inning which completed the scoring.  The only drama at that point was to see how long St. Clair could keep Lambton hitless.  Saints' starter Sam McKinlay (Tilbury, ON) pitched four innings allowing the lone earned run as part of his five walks but struck out seven.  Cole Taylor (Belle River, ON/Belle River) Braydin Metcalfe (Essex, ON/Essex) and Real all pitched an inning of hitless relief to secure the no-no.  St. Clair spread out the at-bats offensively as Owen Levesque (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) managed two RBI on a single with Appleyard also cashing a run on single.

Prior to the games six graduating Saints were recognized as part of Senior Night including 3B Owen Findlay (Lasalle, ON), CF Ethan Paulos (Ancaster, ON), P/C Zachary Hartman (Barrie, ON), 1B Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON), SS Josh Anderson (Ajax, ON) and OF Hunter Appleyard (LaSalle, ON).

The Saints travel to London Friday afternoon to complete their suspended game against Fanshawe College and resume with the score at 16-0 in the fifth inning in favour of St. Clair who hold a 15-1 record.  With one more win the Saints secure the regular season pennant and the top seed going into next week's OCAA Championship tournament.
