St. Clair Men’s Baseball 3-0 after Seneca Sweep

Ajax, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team enjoyed a successful opening weekend of their OCAA season and now hold a 3-0 record after a doubleheader sweep of Seneca College (North York) Sunday afternoon at Ajax's Audley Recreation Centre diamond.  The Saints took the opening game by a score of 11-3 and then completed the day with a 7-2 win.

To start the day St. Clair put up three runs in the first inning and then took a 5-1 lead after the second.  The Saints gave up two runs in third before holding Seneca scoreless the rest of the game thanks in large part to the efforts of their relief pitcher Gareth Mann (Ajax, ON) who must have felt at ease in his hometown.  Mann gave up only one hit in four innings of work with a pair of strikeouts to claim the pitching win for St Clair.  Colin Robinson (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) put on a show offensively for the Saints with a pair of home runs in consecutive innings in the fifth and sixth that resulted in three rbi's. Another hometown native Josh Anderson (Ajax, ON) had a pair of hits with two rbi's while Ethan Paulos (Ancaster, ON) had a double and three rbi's for St. Clair.

In game two Robinson added another round tripper for a three-homerun day at the plate as part of a six-run third inning for the Saints.  Rookie catcher Andrew Langlois (LaSalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) also cleared the fence with a man aboard in the third inning to go with a double for St. Clair.  Cody Moore (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) was the winning pitcher who spread out four hits over four innings allowing no earned runs while adding two strikeouts.

The Saints face the University of Windsor at Amherstburg's Libro Credit Union Centre diamond on Wednesday night with first pitch scheduled for 7pm.  St. Clair resumes their OCAA schedule when they host Centennial College (Scarborough) in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1pm which will be played at Mic Mac Park on Cullen Field.  The Saints will be playing all home games at Cullen Field due to construction at Lacasse Park.
