Women's Soccer Add Two Top Recruits

(Windsor, ON) The St. Clair College Department of Athletics and women's soccer program are pleased to announce the commitment of two top local recruits.  Natalie Kersey and Sierra Lapos will be joining the team starting in September 2024.

Kersey is from Belle River and is graduating from St. Anne's. Natalie is a 5'0" striker who will be taking the Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts in Social Justice and Legal Studies degree.  Kersey has an extensive amount of successful club experience including time with Windsor TFC.

Natalie is excited to join the St. Clair program. "I chose St. Clair for my academic and athletic pursuits because of its welcoming atmosphere and friendships among the team. With excellent programs, I trust St. Clair to shape my academic future. Having played soccer with many of the women for a long time, I look forward to continuing our strong relationships there."

Lapos is from Tilbury and attended Ursuline College in Chatham where her team were back to back SWOSSA Finalists. Sierra is a 5'3" midfielder who will be taking the Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Lapos also has a large amount of club experience playing in high level leagues and tournaments. She has played for Windsor TFC and the Liverpool Academy in Michigan.

Sierra is looking forward to her time as a Saint. "I chose St. Clair because of the great Nursing Degree program as well as the opportunity to be a part of an impressive women's soccer program.  The coaching staff made me feel very welcome and I am looking forward to being challenged to be the best player I can be and helping lead the Saints to a provincial championship."

Head coach, Steve Vagnini is pleased to add these two women to the program. "These two players have been on my radar for the last two years. They both have the talent and mindset that I look for to add to our program. Natalie will give us speed and a dangerous and relentless mentality to score goals. Sierra gives us that smooth, calm, decision maker that will allow us to be stronger in the midfield. I'm looking forward to coaching these players and what they will add to our program".

The Saints outdoor team finished in second place in the OCAA West Division this past season with a record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties. St. Clair won two playoff games to quality for the Final Four Championship where they narrowly missed out on a medal losing in penalty kicks on the bronze medal match to Durham. The indoor team just qualified for the provincial championships which will take place in Toronto on March 7th and 8th at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
