Women's Indoor Soccer to Play for OCAA Medal

Vaughan (ON) The St. Clair women's varsity indoor soccer team were in Vaughan on Wednesday to take part in Day One of the OCAA Championship at the Ontario Soccer Centre. It as a successful day for the Saints as they won all three of their matches and have qualified for the Championship Semi-Final.

In their first match, St. Clair defeated University of Laurier Brantford by a score of 3-0. Malary Cole (Thunder Bay; St. Ignatius) had two goals for the Saints while Ally Schooley (Tecumseh; Tecumseh Vista) notched the third tally.

The Saints won their second game of the day over rival Fanshawe College by a score of 3-0. Cole scored again for St. Clair along with Tira Copeland (Windsor; Holy Names) and Cassie Nicholas (Windsor; Holy Names)

In their third match the Saints took down the University of Lakehead Orillia 2-0 in a battle for first place in their pool. Cole got her fourth goal of the day with Keely Ryan (Lakeshore; St. Anne's) scoring the other.

Natalie Turner (Windsor; Holy Names) was in goal for all three games and was outstanding throughout the day not allowing a single goal. Defender Ravneet Rana (Windsor; Riverside) had a great day as well helping keep the opponents of the scoresheet.

With the first place finish in their pool, the Saints will play in the Championship semi-final on Thursday at 10:00 am against the Seneca College Sting. The other semi-final will feature Humber College taking on Lakehead Orillia University. The winners will play for Gold at 1:30 pm while the losers will play for Bronze 12 noon.

St. Clair was preparing to play in the Championship semi-final on the second day of play in March of 2020 but the event was cancelled last minute the morning of that match due to COVID 19
