Women’s Basketball Crossover Against Durham Again

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team will face a familiar foe in the OCAA Crossover Playoff game when they host Durham College (Oshawa) on Saturday at the SportsPlex which tips at 5:00pm.  Since the 2001-02 season the Saints have faced the Lords ten times in the playoffs and nine of which were in the crossover game with St. Clair coming out on top each in each meeting.  The Saints finished with a 13-3 record (West 2nd Place) and are ranked 4th in the latest OCAA poll while Durham finished 7th in the East Division with a 3-11 record.

St. Clair's 5th year transfer guard Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford, ON) led the province in scoring with a 20.9ppg average but was also 2nd in OCAA assists at 5.3 per game to go with a team high 7.8 rebounds per contest.  Overeem finished the regular season with the 4th most prolific scoring total in Saints history at 334 points and is only the 5th St. Clair Women's player to lead the OCAA in scoring average.

Shae-lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) finished the year strong for St. Clair and averaged 11.7ppg including the 7th most triple makes in the OCAA (30) while adding 5.8rpg and 3.2apg.  Ania Buklarewicz (Mississauga, ON) was 9th in provincial triple makes with 27 and had the 12th best OCAA conversion rate at 31.7% as part of her 9.8ppg.  Janae Smith (Warren, MI) nearly reached double figures in scoring with 9.3ppg but also cleared 6.2rpg for the Saints.

Durham brings with them the province's second leading scorer in 5'10" rookie forward Emma Bergen (La Crete, AB) who puts up 20.6ppg and is rated first in field goal percentage at 52.9%.  She also takes the 6th most attempts from the free throw line in the OCAA and makes 75% (OCAA 7th).  5th year 5'11" swing player Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) is the only other player in double figures for Durham at 11.7ppg.

Saturday's winner will advance to the quarter-finals next weekend.

All full-time St. Clair students in attendance will be eligible to win one of two $500 scholarships that will be picked during game.
